Letās talk about your āWhyā.
Your āwhyā is the reason you do what you do. Itās the reason you get out of bed in the morning and continue to work in a job you donāt love.
We all have reasons that motivate us to do the things we have to do. If we can figure out what makes us tick and what motivates us, it becomes easier to zero in on what weāre truly passionate about.
Think about whatās important to you. Think about why youāre currently doing the things you do that arenāt your favorite.
Why are you holding down that job?
Why are you getting out of bed in the morning?
Make a list of things and youāll start to see what your big motivators are.
Maybe itās your family and your children.
Wanting to raise them well and being a good role model can be a huge motivator and an excellent āwhyā.
If you donāt know what Iām talking about, hereās a quick introduction.
Your āwhyā is the reason you do what you do. Itās the reason you get out of bed in the morning and continue to work in a job you donāt love.
Your āwhyā could be your kids, your spouse, or that dream of owning a home in the country. It could be being able to travel the world, or filling your craft room with supplies for future projects.

Why are you considering going back to school for a degree?
Make a list of things and youāll start to see what your big motivators are.
Maybe itās your family and your children.
Wanting to raise them well and being a good role model can be a huge motivator and an excellent āwhyā.
Maybe itās being able to help a particular group of people. Your reason for going to medical school may be to look for a cure for cancer or Alzheimerās disease.
Your reason for choosing to work in social services may be to keep children out of abused homes.
Once you know whatās causing you to take action and start to make a difference (in other words your āwhyā), you know what your passion is.
Once you know whatās causing you to take action and start to make a difference (in other words your āwhyā), you know what your passion is.
Think of your passion as the thing or idea that encompasses your āwhyā. Passion is bigger and more expansive than the thing that motivates us to do something.
- Passion is longer lasting. Itās a feeling, and emotion, and a drive that spurs us into action. Once you know your why, you know your passion.
From there itās simply a matter of reminding yourself of your reason why youāre doing what youāre doing. This will insure that your passion project is always front and center of your mind. It doesnāt have to be your job. It doesnāt have to be your main occupation, or even take up a lot of your time each week. It should however become one of your priorities so you can make sure you dedicate some time and attention to it regularly.
Tapping into your passion and working on or towards your āwhyā is a wonderful state of mind to be in. Make it a goal to spend more time each week on what youāre passionate about. It is incredibly rewarding. Youāll feel better about yourself. Youāll have more fun. Your self-esteem and feelings of self-worth get a big boost. As a bonus, youāll make a difference in the lives of others and that just plain feels good. Try it. Embrace that passion project and see for yourself.
